Why do we stick to plans - even when they no longer work?
Our first day in Morocco began with euphoria - and ended in a desert of mud.
We pushed, cursed and carried. For hours.
I tried to persuade my partner to stay on the official bikepacking route - but at some point it became clear that this wasn't going to get us anywhere.
And that's when the unexpected began:
Absalam and his wife Suat invited us into their garden hut.
A warm fire. The best tajine of our trip. And Suat made us laugh so much with her ‘Moroccan roasting’ that all the stress evaporated.
💡 What I learnt from this:
Sometimes it's not the planned route that leads to the destination - but the flexibility to recognise a better alternative.
Not just when travelling. Also in professional life.
PS: The next day, the section was reasonably rideable again. Nevertheless, we switched to the road to be on the safe side 😀

📣 When was the last time you let go of a plan - and discovered something better as a result?
